Okay everyone, there’s been some recent changes in the Rifqa Bary case and I really wanted to call people to just keep her and this whole deal in their prayers. If y’all read my last update about her on here (scroll down and you’ll see it) there was some really good news about how the court decided to let her stay in foster care until she turns 18 in August and then after that she’s free to live where she chooses. But now Rifqa’s parents have changed their mind about that agreement. According to this one website it says that,
“The parents – Mohamed and Aysha Bary – are withdrawing their consent to resolve the case. The motion says: ‘The parents now believe the entire deal should be thrown out because of misrepresentation and fraudulent inducement. It adds that the Barys now object to all decisions made on Jan. 19 and want a trial on the dependency case.’”http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/local_news/stories/2010/01/29/Agreement_between_Rifqa_Bary_and_parents_tenuous.html?sid=101
None of the attorneys or anyone else involved in the case has been able to comment on this because they’e under a gag order so everything seems so up in the air now. So it’s time to do battle in the air. Even if it’s just a 10 second prayer each day on behalf of Rifqa, it matters and has a greater affect in the spirit than we know. Just like my friend Steph said in interpreting that dream I had about Rifqa, the call for the people of God to stand for Rifqa is crucial and shouldn’t be minimized. Also, it’s not only about praying for the situation, but for Rifqa’s heart and spirit. She’s our sister and we’re called to bear each other up and strengthen each other in the Lord and prayer is the most powerful way we can do that.
Your kingdom come, and Your will be done.
Here’s a link to an hour long interview with Rifqa’s friend Jamal Jivangee where they discuss this recent news:
I just wanted to give an update on Rifqa Bary. The Lord gave me a unique burden for her and I’ve been tracking with the story since September when Mike Bickle and Lou Engle first mentioned what was going on with her. The buzz about her kind of died down but I set up a google alert to send me an email whenever she was mentioned in a news article so I could keep tracking with what was going on. Today I got a couple of them with awesome news.
I’ll back track real quick for those who aren’t familiar with her story. I’ll try and give the basic summary because there’s a lot of details involved. This past summer, Rifqa ran away from her home in Ohio because she feared that her father would either kill or harm her because she was a Christian. She had an amazing encounter with God (I’ll post her testimony on here too) a couple of years ago but comes from a Muslim family and has to hide her identity as a Christian from them. When her mom discovered some Christian books in her room everything kind of blew up and she knew that she had to get away before her father returned from a business trip because she was aware of the consequences that could come upon her. She took a bus from where she lives in Ohio down to Florida and stayed with a pastor and his wife for a couple weeks before her parents went to court in Florida to regain custody of their daughter. The trials this summer, and it’s been quite a journey really and I’m barely even covering all that went on so don’t take my description as the end all by any means. Anyway, when the case got moved to Ohio, I have to admit that I was even a bit nervous about what this meant for Rifqa because it seemed that the case would be over and that the judge would rule her to go back with her parents. But today as I opened one of the google alerts, I found out this glorious news:
“The agreement Tuesday says that 17-year-old Rifqa Bary will stay in a foster home under state custody in Columbus until she turns 18 in August. After that, she’ll be an adult and free to live where she chooses. Bary’s attorney read a statement in Franklin County Juvenile Court, saying that the girl and her parents love and respect each other and will try to resolve their differences through counseling.” http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,583423,00.html
Honesty, I am in awe of the Lord. When you see the fruit of prayer it kind of makes you go, “Man…this is no joke.” This outcome also makes me go, “What in the world is this girl’s calling?” I believe that she carries a mantle that’s going to shake nations. It’s been said of her that she’s an Esther too and there’s no doubt in my mind about that. I just know in my spirit that she’s going to bring many Muslims to Jesus through the word of her testimony and will continue to believe for the Lord to visit her family with His compassion and mercy that they would know this Love that Rifqa knows so well.
Back in September, the Lord gave me an awesome prophetic dream about Rifqa. I wanted to share one part of it. Towards the end of the dream I was in some random place and one of my friends came up to me and told me that she was watching a prayer meeting for Rifqa and that we were all giving Rifqa purple fruit loops. We had taken out all the other colors to just give her the purple ones. Strange. I know. But I knew it meant something. The most that I realized was: purple…royalty…fruit loops? So I asked one of my roomates about it and she got the interpretation and its aweeeeesome!
“Purple fruit loops signify the intercessory prayers of the saints offered in unity as the Bride of Christ. The purple color is significant because of the Esther mantle and anointing Rifqa carries. The Church is standing and must continue to stand with Rifqa in prayer and fasting for the deliverance of her people, just as the Jews did with Esther in 3 days of intense focused corporate prayer and fasting to prevent the annihilation of their nation. The shape of the loops is reminiscent of lifesaving devices used to throw to drowning victims to rescue them from impending death. The urgency of unified prayer for Rifqa is real and must not be minimized. Truly, for such a time as this has Rifqa been set apart for the deliverance of many multitudes of her people from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of Light.”
So be it. And yes, she is totally reading her bible in the picture above
Rifqa’s Testimony:
P.S. Even though this is an awesome victory I did want to ask for y’all to continue to remember Rifqa in prayer because there have been a lot of death threats towards her and her friends lately. Pray for protection and that God would continue to fill her with peace and strength and truly make her a voice to this generation.
